The Florida Strong Families Tax Credit was established in 2021 to support eligible charitable organizations that provide services focused on child welfare and well-being and family preservation. Safe Families for Children is honored to be one of only a few organizations in the state approved as a designated charity. (Capital City Youth Services is another great local one that is eligible ) Under the program, corporate taxpayers can make private monetary contributions to a designated charitable organization and receive a dollar-for-dollar credit against the following Florida taxes:
Corporate income tax – Companies who file a F-1120 qualify. S corporations usually file a federal return (Fed- 1120S) but it is a pass-through, and so do not file a F-1120 with the state. An LLC will only qualify if they file an F-1120 with the state. C corporations typically file.
Excise tax on liquor, wine, and malt beverages;
Gas and oil production tax;
Insurance premium tax; and,
Use tax due under a direct pay permit.
What does this mean for you?
You can donate to support vulnerable children and struggling families through Safe Families for Children, by securing a tax credit now and making the donation instead of paying your taxes to the state when they are due you would just send in the certificate of donation. Credits for the 24-25 tax year are available now through the Department of Revenue portal. The credits are allocated on a “first come, first serve” basis, and historically, the available funds are claimed very quickly.

We encourage you or your CPA to see the full information from the Florida Department of Revenue. If you do not already have an account with the Florida Department of Revenue’s Multi-Use Tax Credit, you will need to create one here.( https://taxapps.floridarevenue.com/multitaxCredits ) Then as soon as possible, log in to the Multi-Use Tax Credit site and submit your application.
This is an incredible opportunity to support families in our community and strengthen this important aspect of workforce development – especially among our neighbors who fall into the ALICE category. Without you, our mission to serve struggling families would not be possible. Your contributions are monumental to keeping children safe, and families together – and since the tax credits are dollar to dollar – the donation will not affect your business’s profits in any way.

Why Safe Families?
Florida has one of the largest foster care systems in the country and most children enter it due to preventable neglect, not physical abuse.
We catch these families before they fall. Nearly all (98%) of the families we serve have no further involvement with child services.
Our programs identify the root causes of a family’s struggle and provide them with the support and services they need to be successful long term.
Studies have shown that Florida counties see a decrease in the need for foster care after we launch our programs in the area.
We are 100% privately funded and 91% of our funding goes directly into programs, not overhead.
Our program is evidence-based – and a proven model to improve the safety of children and the well-being of families.
