Open Enrollment on the Health Insurance Marketplace began November 1 and will run through January 15. Millions of people in Florida will be renewing or enrolling in individual health insurance to make sure their health and well-being are protected.
- To secure a health plan that starts on January 1, 2025, consumers must renew or enroll by December 15.
- If they sign up between December 15 and January 16, benefits will start on February 1, 2024.
Health insurance is more important than you think!
Why it matters: Affordability is the biggest issue facing the people we serve. High health care costs force too many people to make difficult choices between their health and other necessities like food and housing.
- Many don’t realize that there is financial assistance available to help with the monthly cost of health insurance — in many cases they could get a comprehensive health plan for $0.
- According to the federal government, 4 out of 5 people in the U.S. could find quality plans that cost $10 or less per month.
Read the story of Michael, a Florida Blue member and heart transplant recipient whose health coverage never skipped a beat…and thankfully, neither did he.
Unlike Michael, even if nothing has changed with someone’s job or income, this is the time of year to revisit their current plan, any changes to their health, medications, budget, etc. – to ensure they are in the right plan.
We understand that health insurance can be confusing.
We’re here to make it easier to sign up, navigate the system, and find an affordable plan that works for everyone’s needs and budget.
