United Way of the Big Bend Receives a $10,000 Grant from Truist for COVID-19 Relief Efforts

United Way of the Big Bend (UWBB) announced it received a $10,000 grant from Truist Financial Corporation for their COVID 19 relief efforts. The grant is part of the financial services company’s Truist Cares initiative, a $25 million philanthropic pledge announced in March to support basic needs, medical supplies and financial hardship relief due to COVID-19.

“Our United Way is greatly appreciative to Truist for its commitment to our community by providing this grant to our UWBB COVID-19 Fund. COVID-19 has created increased need in our Big Bend region and it will be a long-term recovery for our neighbors living in poverty and at the edge of poverty. We anticipate these numbers increasing as we feel the impact,” said Berneice Cox, President and CEO of the United Way of the Big Bend. “We know that life after a national pandemic will return to a new normal, but the effects will be felt for some time. It is the support from partners like Truist that will allow our United Way of the Big Bend to continue to help during this time of great need.”

“Truist is excited to continue to partner with United Way of the Big Bend to help provide support for services so impactful to our Tallahassee region during such uncertain times,” said Chris Mills, Market President with Truist. “As we manage through business as unusual during this pandemic, we are very thankful for the great efforts that UWBB is doing to inspire and build better communities.
