TSMS Celebrates Campus Expansion with Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

The Tallahassee School of Math and Science (TSMS) celebrated the expansion of its campus Thursday (August 13) with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new middle school building. The building features a media center, a teachers’ lounge, a STEM lab and multiple spacious classrooms.

TSMS Principal Ahmet Temel was joined by several Ambassadors from the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce, Leon County School Board representatives and TSMS board members as they cut the red ribbon and officially opened the building. After the ceremony concluded, attendees were invited to participate in a tour.

With the 2020-2021 school year rapidly approaching, the Tallahassee School of Math and Science was determined to improve their facility operations and be prepared to deal with pandemic concerns. The new building not only expands the school’s resources, but, in accordance with social distancing guidelines, it ensures that TSMS has the capacity for all of its students to return to school safely.

“This building is going to improve our students’ educational experience,” said TSMS Principal Ahmet Temel. “We are excited to offer new state-of-the-art resources and be able to expand our campus just in time for the new school year.”

Now that the project is completed, TSMS is looking forward to the added flexibility that the building will bring for all students and staff during these uncertain times.
