TSC and ASPIRE Capital Region Partner to Expand College Enrollment Efforts at Godby High School

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Tallahassee State College (TSC), in partnership with ASPIRE Capital Region, is proud to announce the launch of a new dual-enrollment course, SLS 1301: Career Planning, at Godby High School. This course will equip 25 seniors with essential skills and resources to prepare for success after graduation.

This class, offered on-campus at Godby, is part of a larger effort to increase college enrollment among Godby High School seniors, supported by the Florida College Access Network (FCAN) and the Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation. The program specifically targets Title I high schools across Florida, focusing on creating pathways to higher education and career readiness.

A cornerstone of the initiative is ASPIRE Capital Region’s Bringing Economic and Career Opportunities Nearer (BEACON) Project, which has already achieved remarkable success at Godby High School. Since its inception, BEACON has increased Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) completion rates from 46.8% to an impressive 88%. BEACON volunteers meet individually with graduating seniors to discuss post-high school plans, financial aid opportunities, and the critical role of FAFSA in pursuing higher education.

With the launch of the Career Planning course, TSC and its partners continue to strengthen the college-going culture at Godby High School, ensuring students have the tools they need to succeed in their educational and career pursuits
