Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) has been recognized as a leader in healthcare again by U.S. News & World Report in its annual rankings. The global authority in consumer advice ranked TMH as the 13th Best Hospital in Florida for 2024-2025.
For 35 years, U.S. News has released its annual Best Hospitals report based on an analysis of data on patient safety, clinical resources and patient outcomes. TMH’s ranking underscores its continued dedication to quality and providing unmatched healthcare to patients from 21 counties in North Florida and South Georgia.
U.S. News evaluated 258 of the more than 320 hospitals in Florida. Of those hospitals, 31 meet U.S. News standards and are ranked in the state.
“As an organization, TMH remains focused on improving our safety and quality measures in order to assure our patients and community that they can count on us for the best healthcare possible,” President & CEO Mark O’Bryant said. “In addition, we’re committed to fostering a culture that supports excellence, and we are seeing that work pay off. I’m excited that TMH is again recognized among the top hospitals in our state.”
In addition to being ranked as the 13th hospital in the state, TMH was rated as “High Performing” in 10 areas of care:
• Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
• Gynecological cancer surgery
• Heart attack
• Heart failure
• Hip replacement
• Knee replacement
• Kidney failure
• Leukemia, lymphoma & myeloma
• Pneumonia
• Stroke
A rating of “High Performing” is the highest award a hospital can earn for U.S. News’ Best Hospitals Procedures & Conditions ratings and indicates that TMH was significantly better than the national average for the rated conditions and procedures.
As a Level II Trauma Center, TMH provides the region’s highest level of care for traumas and emergencies. In addition, TMH has the region’s only Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care, Pediatric Intensive Care and the most advanced cancer, heart and vascular, orthopedic and surgery programs in the Panhandle. In fiscal year 2023 alone, TMH saw 31,965 inpatient admissions. Here are some additional stats from 2023:

We rigorously monitor data across the organization to measure our progress and identify additional areas for improvement. Our continued ranking by U.S. News & World Report affirms that we’re making a difference.”
For the 2024-2025 rankings and ratings, U.S. News evaluated nearly 5,000 hospitals across 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions; only 11% of evaluated hospitals earned a Best Hospitals ranking. Hospitals awarded a “Best” designation excelled at factors such as clinical outcomes, level of nursing care and patient experience.
To calculate the Best Hospitals rankings, U.S. News evaluated each hospital’s performance on objective measures such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and level of nursing care.
“For 35 years, U.S. News has been a leading resource for patients navigating their health care decisions,” said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News. “A ‘Best Hospital’ recognition empowers patients to seek out medical care from the best of the best to treat their illness or condition.”
