Stearns Weaver Miller Government & Administrative Law Group Continues to Strengthen Its Presence & Expand Offered Services

Stearns Weaver Miller announced that its Government & Administrative Law group continues to solidify its position as a leading provider in the industry. The group was officially formalized in February 2020, and in less than two years has significantly expanded the depth and breadth of its bench, gained top recognition from respected legal ranking publications, increased its leadership and involvement in key industry organizations, and helped educate and provide critical insight to clients, peers and agencies. More information on the group’s recent accomplishments and differentiators can be found here.

Since its inception, the multi-disciplinary team has seen significant and strategic growth among attorneys and professionals statewide. In 2021, the group added Litigation Shareholders Douglas Kilby and Patricia “Trish” Conners, Government & Administrative Associate Robert Walters, and six Land Development, Zoning & Environmental attorneys, including Shareholders Carl Eldred, Vinette Godelia, Amelia Savage and Susan Stephens and Associates Felicia Kitzmiller and Erin Tilton.

Leveraging a cross-practice and cross-office collaborative approach, the group now offers nearly 40 different services to Florida businesses, local governments and agencies. The group also developed and maintains a rule development monitoring system for various Florida industries to identify opportunities with executive agency rulemaking. Recently, the group received a First Tier ranking in Tallahassee in Administrative/Regulatory Law by U.S. News – Best Lawyers® “Best Law Firms” in 2022. The Firm is one of less than 10 law firms ranked Tier 1 in Tallahassee for Administrative/Regulatory Law and one of less than 20 in all of Florida. Additionally, Group Chair and Shareholder Gigi Rollini, Shareholder Glenn Burhans, Jr., and Shareholder Vinette Godelia are ranked in The Best Lawyers in America® 2022 for Administrative/Regulatory Law. Members are also consistently recognized in Chambers USA, Florida Super Lawyers and Florida Trend’s Legal Elite. Gigi Rollini was one of only ten lawyers in the state recognized by Florida Super Lawyers in 2021 who primarily practices Administrative Law.

The team has also seen a substantial increase in involvement and leadership within strategic industry organizations, including the Administrative Law and City, County and Local Government Law sections of The Florida Bar and American Bar Association. Members frequently author publications for these key organizations and facilitate the dissemination of vital information to clients, peers and agencies. At the height of the pandemic, when there were rapidly-changing government actions, they tracked and compiled a comprehensive list of all Florida government agency emergency and COVID-related orders and updated regularly into an easy-to-read matrix.

Further, members consistently participate in industry panels, presentations, and conferences. The Firm recently served as a sponsor of The Florida Bar Administrative Law Section’s 2021 Pat Dore Administrative Law Conference, with Gigi Rollini moderating the opening session for the event with a panel of agency general and senior counsels discussing constitutional rulemaking, and Erin Tilton presenting on key trends in Florida administrative case law.
