According to preliminary data from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the Tallahassee MSA saw a loss of 3,754 jobs in March of 2020. The total number of jobs for the Tallahassee area was 187,072 which represents a decrease of 1.9% from February. Compared to the same month in the previous year, the March 2020 job totals were down 0.7%. The unemployment rate for the Tallahassee MSA is now 4.4% – the highest in nearly 3 years.
April numbers will be available in the coming weeks and should provide a better picture of the job loss created by the COVID-19 economic pause.
