Gulf Winds Credit Union is pleased to announce the selection of Walter Stepnowski as its new Chief Technology Officer, effective September 5, 2023.
“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Walter as our Chief Technology Officer,” said Daniel Souers, President and CEO of Gulf Winds. “With over 25 years of experience in developing, implementing and overseeing technology solutions, Walter is primed to boost our operational efficiency and elevate our credit union’s technological standing.”
Walter’s career began in the U.S. Air Force, serving as a PC Repair and Network Technician. Afterward, he gained leadership experience in technology roles at Verizon, EMCT, BB&T and Allergan. His expertise extended to credit unions in 2016, when he joined Coastal Credit Union as the Manager/AVP of Engineering, then soon advanced to Vice President of Infrastructure and Operations, overseeing six departments and spearheading enterprise IT deployment and operations.
In his role as the newly appointed Chief Technology Officer, Walter will provide visionary leadership for current and emerging technologies within the credit union. His responsibilities include leading his team to manage IT systems, software development and cybersecurity, while also collaborating on digital innovation, data management and member experience.
“As the new Chief Technology Officer at Gulf Winds, my responsibilities encompass optimizing IT systems, fostering innovation and reinforcing cybersecurity,” said Walter. “I am committed to aligning technology with our credit union’s strategic vision, ensuring compliance, and elevating operational efficiency to deliver exceptional member experiences.”
