TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — In recognition of Healthy Aging Month, Gulf Winds Credit Union has donated $5,000 to Elder Care Services to support programs and services that help older adults throughout the Big Bend maintain their health, independence, and connection to the community.
Healthy aging extends far beyond physical health. Access to nutritious meals, reliable transportation, meaningful social connections, and support for caregivers can all play an important role in helping older adults continue living safely and independently.
Through its $5,000 gift, Gulf Winds Credit Union is investing in Elder Care Services’ work to address those needs for older adults in the Tallahassee community.
“Tallahassee is home to me, and I am proud of how this community comes together to care for one another,” said Andre Ross, Gulf Winds’ Regional Director of Sales and Service for Tallahassee. “We’re grateful for the opportunity to support Elder Care Services and the work they’re doing to help older adults age with dignity, care, and connection.”
Elder Care Services provides a continuum of programs designed to support older adults and their families, including Meals on Wheels, transportation services, Elder Day Stay, in-home services, and other resources that promote independence and quality of life.
“Healthy aging means giving people the resources and support they need to continue living full, connected lives as they grow older,” said Jocelyne Fliger, CEO of Elder Care Services. “We are incredibly grateful to Gulf Winds Credit Union for recognizing the importance of this work and investing in the older adults who have helped build our community.”
Observed each September, Healthy Aging Month encourages people to consider the many factors that contribute to well-being throughout the aging process. For Elder Care Services, that mission continues year-round through programs that help address food insecurity, isolation, transportation barriers, and other challenges that can make it more difficult for older adults to remain independent.
Gulf Winds Credit Union’s contribution will help Elder Care Services continue providing these essential services to older adults throughout the community.
