Home to the world-renowned National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, Florida’s only national lab, Florida State University is building upon its rich legacy of research breakthroughs. Recent high-impact achievements highlight this momentum, including a landmark FDA Breakthrough Device designation for a non-medication digital ADHD treatment developed by the startup Sky Therapeutics at FSU’s Children’s Learning Clinic.
Additionally, FSU researchers were awarded a $350,000 Humana Foundation grant to fight senior isolation with the help of AI concierge technology.
Team members from more than 30 countries are working together in a partnership between FAMU-FSU College of Engineering and Danfoss Turbocor, which recently launched the Danfoss Research Fellowship Program to support research in sustainable HVAC systems, energy efficiency and next-generation cooling technologies, expanding operations as demand grows for advanced cooling systems used in large commercial buildings and hyperscale data centers.
Most recently, the FSU Research Center secured an $88 million U.S. Navy contract awarded to the Center for Advanced Power Systems (CAPS) to advance future ship power technologies. The contract will support a broad research and development effort for the Navy. Coupled with major investments in the FSU Health initiative, the university consistently ranks among the top institutions nationwide for National Science Foundation funding and continues to translate academic discovery into tangible societal solutions.
