Special Tour of Unseen: Museum Collections Revealed

Join the Historic Capitol Museum and Museum of Florida History staff for a tour of the temporary exhibition Unseen: Museum Collections Revealed. This free monthly tour is available by reservation only on a first-come, first-serve basis and will last approximately one hour. Participation is capped at 10 guests and three total tours are offered – Thursday, July 20; Thursday, August 17; and Thursday, September 21, 2023. About the exhibition: Museums collect objects for many reasons and only a small percentage of a collection can ever be on display to the public at any given time. As a result, the majority of objects are out of sight and unseen in climate controlled storage areas being preserved, awaiting their moment for display.

This exhibition features the collections of two state museums located in Tallahassee, Florida – the Museum of Florida History and the Florida Historic Capitol Museum. By revealing some unseen objects, we invite you behind the scenes to see how museums collect, process, and take care of collections for future generations. More information on the exhibit HERE
