Dr. Paul Ortiz of the University of Florida moderates a panel discussion of civil rights leaders. The panel includes John Due, who was active in the statewide civil rights movement and was a member of the legal team for activist Dr. Robert Hayling; the Reverend Henry Marion Steele, who was active in the Tallahassee movement and is the son of civil rights leader C. K. Steele; and Althemese Barnes, the executive director of the John G. Riley House Museum and founder of the Florida African American Heritage Preservation Network.
Why I joined the Chamber
“The Chamber is all about being given the opportunity to form relationships through networking. In Leads Groups, you spend quality time with other businesses, and often gain “Access” (another Chamber group focusing on younger members) to their connections as well. In Leadership Tallahassee, you gain a new family of business leaders, and are guaranteed exposure to something or some group you were not familiar with, while broadening your understanding of all things “Tallahassee”. With LT’s Building Better Boards, you get to spend an evening with a great, philanthropic/altruistic group who are learning to serve their nonprofits more effectively. With the Chamber Conference, you get to spend quality time off-site and in a more casual setting while learning more about our community. Is the Chamber helpful for your business? Absolutely – especially if you join, engage, and take advantage of the great programs they offer!”
