Shakespeare wrote that “all the world’s a
stage, and all the men and women are merely players.” When the stage is the
world of politics, clothing – or costume – choices can communicate complicated
messages to those paying attention. In this unique brunch and learn runway
event, Howard Vincent Kurtz, George Mason University Professor Emeritus of
Theater and former Associate Curator of Costumes and Textiles at Hillwood
Estate, Museum & Gardens in Washington D.C., will discuss dressing for
political events using live fashion models styled by local experts Juli Downs,
Manager at Narcissus and Marvin Boatman, CEO at AnotherBoatmanCreation.
This program is sponsored by the Florida
Humanities Council and is part of the series complementing temporary exhibit On
the Steps of History: Florida’s Inaugurations.
