Learn how SBIR & STTR helps fund innovative research and how to access over $3 billion in non-dilutable funding. Hosted at Florida Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at FAMU. This presentation provides a basic introduction to the purpose, eligibility requirements and structure of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and the Small business Technology Transfer Research (STTR) programs. These two initiatives are referred to as the Nation’s largest source of early stage, high risk, non-diluted funding for start-ups and small businesses. The four goals of the Programs are to: Stimulate technological innovation, Employ small businesses to meet Federal R&D needs, Foster and encourage participation by socially and economically disadvantaged small businesses, and those that are at least 51% owned and controlled by women, Increase private sector commercialization of innovations derived from Federal R&D, thereby increasing competition, productivity, and economic growth. The workshop provides enough information for attendees to determine if they would like to seriously pursue a grant or contract opportunity utilizing SBIR/STTRs.
