DISC Village is proud to sponsor an upcoming Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) Bed Build with the Tallahassee chapter on Saturday, November 8, 2025, an event designed to bring comfort, safety, and hope to children throughout the Big Bend area.
The bed build will bring together volunteers from DISC Village and the community to assemble, sand, stain, and deliver handmade twin beds for children who currently have no bed of their own. Every bed built during the event will be paired with a brand-new mattress, pillow, and bedding—giving children not only a place to rest but a sense of security and belonging.
For many families, especially those facing financial hardship or housing instability, the simple gift of a bed can have a lasting impact on a child’s physical and emotional well-being. Adequate sleep supports focus in school, improves health, and fosters a stronger sense of self-worth. By sponsoring this build, DISC Village is helping meet these fundamental needs for local children, ensuring they have a safe, warm space to call their own.
The initiative reflects DISC Village’s ongoing commitment to supporting the well-being of children and families across North Florida. Beyond its behavioral health and prevention services, DISC Village continues to invest in community-based projects that promote safety, stability, and hope.
Community members are invited to take part in this effort by volunteering at the Bed Build or donating new twin-size sheets, pillows, and bedding items to accompany each bed. Volunteers do not need woodworking experience—SHP provides all materials, tools, and guidance needed to participate safely and effectively.

The bed build is part of the Sleep in Heavenly Peace Tallahassee chapter’s continued effort to provide children in the Big Bend area with a safe, comfortable place to sleep. A separate bed build sponsored by Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church is scheduled for November 18, 2025.
