Derek O. Jackson is a Vice President for Automated Health Systems (AHS). AHS has over 40 years of broad-based experience administering Medicaid and public assistance contracts nationwide and is a leader in the administration of optimal health care services for low-income families and communities.
Derek is responsible for developing and managing client relationships with overall strategic growth initiatives within state and local governments accounting for over 9 million individuals in 10 States.
Derek has a degree in Health Services Administration from Barry University and a Masters in Organization Leadership from Bethune-Cookman University. He and his beautiful wife Veronica have lived in Tallahassee for nearly 30 years, and this is where they have raised their family. He is affiliated with several healthcare associations and community service organizations. Derek is also a frequent guest speaker at Florida A&M University’s, School of Business and Industry and has mentored students at Florida State University.
In 2018, Derek was the guest speaker for the Arthur Lee Andrews Memorial Scholarship Gala in Crawfordville, FL. “As an energetic community leader and a tremendous advocate for youth in the Tallahassee area, Mr. Jackson is well known for being among the first to volunteer his time, talents, and resources to help others,” says Charles McDonald, a System of Care Director with a local organization. Simply put, Derek loves to call the Big Bend area his home. When he is not traveling around the country with his wife pursuing his “Bucket List” to visit every state in America, (28, so far) he can be seen cruising the Wakulla River on weekends with friends and family.
Derek stated, “I am grateful to the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce for its commitment to bring business owners and consumers together, promoting employment growth, bottom-line success along with usable information to better our community. Our company has worked with the Chamber since opening our Tallahassee office in 2010 and we are better for it.”
One of Derek’s favorite quotes is: “Great people are just ordinary people with an extraordinary amount of determination.” -Unknown
