MidSouth Bank, an independent community bank committed to serving local communities, has opened its first Tallahassee location in the heart of the capital city’s Midtown. With the new opening, MidSouth Bank has also announced the appointment of Chris Edwards as Market President.
While MidSouth Bank has future plans to expand offerings in Tallahassee to provide a full-service branch, the current location has opened as a Loan Production Office (LPO) for now and will solely offer loan-related services, with a focus on business and commercial loans. As Tallahassee has continued to expand and shown promise of being a favorable market for business growth, MidSouth Bank’s new LPO will help facilitate their commercial and lending services for those in the Big Bend region.

Originally from Tallahassee, Edwards is a graduate of Mercer University in Macon, Georgia as well as Tallahassee Community College (TCC), where he also played college baseball. In June 2019, Edwards also graduated from the American Banker Association Stonier Graduate School of Banking. A seasoned commercial loan officer, Edwards spent 15 years in the Atlanta market in commercial and small business lending for regional and community banks. After moving back to Tallahassee in 2012, he worked with another community bank as a commercial sales manager and lender.
Deeply engrained in the Tallahassee community, Edwards is involved in several civic organizations and currently is serving as treasurer of the board for the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Big Bend, board member for the Friends of Our Parks Foundation, and is on the finance committee for the TCC Foundation. He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Tallahassee and Leadership Tallahassee Class 32.
