Capital Regional Medical Center Opens Outpatient Burn Clinic

TALLAHASSEE Fla. – The Florida panhandle has a new option in burn care. The JMS Burn Center at Capital Regional Medical Center is now open. The outpatient clinic will be open each Wednesday for appointments and walk-in patients.

“For the last 40 years, Capital Regional has been a vital part of the panhandle, and with the addition of this clinic, we continue our commitment to expanding healthcare services in Tallahassee and beyond,” said Alan Keesee, CEO of Capital Regional Medical Center.

The outpatient clinic at Capital Regional Medical Center will be affiliated with the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. The Augusta burn center is the cornerstone of the Burn and Reconstructive Centers of America network, the nation’s largest burn care network encompassing more than 20% of the nation’s burn admissions at 14 locations in eight states.

Dr. Fred Mullins, the president of Burn and Reconstructive Centers of America and Joseph M. Still Burn Centers, Inc., said the Tallahassee clinic will allow patients to follow-up closer to home. “If we can save our patients from traveling long distances for a follow-up visit or initial visit, that will help reduce their financial burden, stress and pain, and ultimately help improve their healing process,” Dr. Mullins said.

The JMS Burn Clinic at Capital Regional Medical Center will offer an array of burn services, from primary burn treatments to reconstruction, including laser scar therapy. “Through the years, our burn team has honed their skills to provide the highest level of care to burn patients,” Dr. Mullins said. “We have treated patients from two days old to 105 years old, with a third of our patients being children.”
