Capital Health Plan Medicare Plans Achieve Highest National Quality Ratings

CHP earns only 5-star rating for health care plans in Tallahassee

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Capital Health Plan (CHP) has once again been recognized as a national health care leader, earning a 5-out-of-5-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and 4.5 stars for both its Medicare and Private health insurance plans from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).

“It’s an honor to receive these high ratings, which reflect the continued dedication and hard work of our staff and local medical community,” said John Hogan, CEO of Capital Health Plan. “CMS and the NCQA both incorporate members’ feedback in their evaluation and CHP has been blessed with extraordinary levels of satisfaction and support from our members for many years.”

The 5-star outcome in the CMS Star Ratings for 2022 validates CHP’s commitment to quality while solidifying its position as a top-rated plan in Florida. CHP is the leading plan in Tallahassee, according to the CMS ratings, and is among only a small percentage of plans in the country to receive this coveted rating.

“It’s been a difficult two years for our Big Bend community, but through it all CHP has continued providing high quality care and service to our members,” said Ken Boutwell, Chairman of the Board. “To reach this milestone amid the most demanding and challenging time for the health care community is a testament to the dedication of CHP’s devoted staff and local health care network.”

Published annually, the CMS Star Ratings help Medicare consumers make health care decisions that best suit them. Measurements of the quality of health and pharmacy services in Medicare Advantage prescription drug plans can provide consumers and caregivers with insight into the comparative benefits, costs, and quality of various plans, assisting with decision-making. CHP earned its 5-star rating in part through its results on clinical indicators as well as survey feedback directly from current members.

CHP is also celebrating another year with a 4.5-out-of-5 rating from the NCQA for its Medicare and Private health insurance plans. These ratings position CHP as the NCQA’s highest rated private and Medicare plans in Florida and among the highest rated plans in the nation. CHP has consistently earned these high ratings since the NCQA began evaluating health plans in 2005.

NCQA ratings are calculated based on combined scores of Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®), Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS®), and NCQA Accreditation standards. Scores include the results of consumer surveys and compare the success of various plans in preventing and treating medical conditions.

CHP is proud of these results on its current plans and looks forward to offering new individual plans through the Federal Healthcare Exchange in the Tallahassee area for 2022. For more information about Capital Health Plan, visit capitalhealth.com.
