– No footprint is too small to leave a lasting impression. In recognition of
National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, the Capital Area Healthy Start
Coalition invites the community to join A Walk to Remember on Thursday, October 10,
2024, from 5:30pm – 8:00pm at Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church (1700 N Meridian Rd,
Tallahassee, FL). This free, heartfelt event is designed to offer comfort, solidarity, and hope
to families who have experienced the loss of a baby, whether through miscarriage, stillbirth,
or infant death.
A Walk to Remember provides a safe space for grieving families to come together,
surrounded by love and support from the community. The event features a memorial
ceremony, where participants can share memories of their little ones, followed by a
candlelit walk around Lake Ella to honor their children’s lives. Grief counselors and support
groups will also be available on-site to offer resources and guidance to those in need.
“Our goal is to reflect not only on the profound sense of loss, but also to embrace the love
and resilience of our families,” said Chris Szorcsik, Executive Director of the Capital Area
Healthy Start Coalition. “This event is a tribute to every child who has touched our lives, no
matter how briefly.”
The walk is open to all families and friends who have experienced loss, regardless of when
it occurred. If you would like your baby’s name read aloud or a photo displayed during the
memorial, please submit your information via our event page:
https://capitalareahealthystart.org/walk-to-remember/. While registration is not required, it
is highly encouraged for this free event. Complimentary refreshments and childcare will
also be provided.
