City Church Tallahassee Announces Groundbreaking For Major Expansion With The Help of Sperry Construction and Equip Studio

City Church Tallahassee, is thrilled to announce the groundbreaking of a significant expansion project at their campus in Tallahassee, Florida. Made possible through the
generous contributions of members during the “Let’s Go!” initiative, this expansion will allow the church to better fulfill its gospel-driven mission. The ceremony is scheduled for May 30, 2024, and will kick off with a family-friendly block party and groundbreaking celebration starting at 5:30 pm.

For more than 16 years, City Church Tallahassee has been a beacon of hope and community in the region, dedicated to creating a dynamic and vibrant local church experience. The Let’s Go! initiative is a two-year expression of its vision to be for the gospel and for the city to expand its reach in Tallahassee and beyond. The expansion will allow City Church to enhance its facilities significantly, including a new auditorium for Sunday gatherings, an expanded lobby area, upgraded children’s theater and classrooms, and dedicated spaces for student gatherings and discipleship.

“City Church started with a passion to take the gospel to our city and that vision has continued to grow,” said Lead Pastor, Dean Inserra. “This new space will allow us to reach our city like never before, creating opportunities to serve and connect with our community in profound ways. We can’t wait to see how God will use this facility to extend His love, truth, and grace throughout our city for generations to come.”

The Let’s Go! project will include the construction of a new 17,740 square-foot addition and the renovation of 34,461 square feet of existing space. Enhancements will be made to the building’s exterior and main entrance, elevating the church’s presence and accessibility in the community. The expansion is designed by the renowned Equip Studio team and construction is led by the Tallahassee commercial construction experts at Sperry Construction.

As City Church moves forward with the Let’s Go! project, ensuring that the new and renovated spaces are fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is crucial to creating an inclusive environment for all members of the community.

The expansion and enhancements to the church’s exterior and main entrance will not only elevate its presence but also ensure that individuals with disabilities can access all areas of the facility with ease. It’s essential that the church addresses important ADA elements, such as proper ramp placements, door widths, and accessible restrooms, in order to meet regulatory standards and create a welcoming space for everyone.

To guarantee that the new spaces comply with ADA guidelines, consulting with a qualified ADA Inspector is highly recommended. An experienced ADA Inspector can conduct thorough assessments to identify any potential accessibility issues before they arise, ensuring the facility meets the necessary standards for accessibility. This proactive approach will help City Church avoid costly modifications down the line while providing peace of mind that the space is fully accessible for all individuals who wish to experience the church’s ministry.

In large-scale construction projects like City Church’s Let’s Go! initiative, attention to accessibility isn’t just about checking boxes—it’s a core part of serving the entire community. While permanent structural elements like ramps and wide doorways are essential to meet ADA standards, temporary facilities also play a critical role during the construction phase.

Ensuring that every stage of the project, including transitional periods, accommodates all individuals is key to creating a truly inclusive environment. For example, when parts of the church are inaccessible during renovations, providing ADA-compliant portable restrooms ensures that no member of the congregation or construction crew is left without a dignified and accessible option. This is where Diamond outdoor bathroom rentals offer an ideal solution. These ADA-compliant units are designed specifically with accessibility in mind, featuring spacious interiors, sturdy handrails, and easy-entry ramps that meet federal guidelines.

Whether supporting construction crews or serving congregants during events while permanent facilities are being completed, these units deliver convenience without compromising compliance. Integrating such rentals into the project demonstrates City Church’s commitment to inclusivity—not just in the finished building, but throughout the entire process. It’s a thoughtful way to keep accessibility at the forefront, from groundbreaking to ribbon-cutting.

Beyond basic accessibility, comfort and aesthetics also matter—especially during high-attendance events or formal gatherings. While ADA-compliant units serve essential needs, some occasions call for elevated amenities that make guests feel truly cared for. Here’s where enhanced options like RhinoCo luxury restroom trailers comes in, offering features such as climate control, elegant interiors, and running water, all housed within a sleek, mobile design. Including these upscale rentals alongside standard units ensures that all attendees, regardless of the event’s formality or function, experience the same level of dignity and comfort.

Sperry Construction, known for its commitment to quality and community-oriented projects, has been a crucial partner in bringing this vision to life. “Our continued collaboration with City Church has been incredible,” said Bart Wells, President of Sperry Construction. “We are excited to break ground on this project that promises to not only enhance the church’s physical footprint but also its capacity to serve and impact the community.”

The partnership between City Church and Sperry Construction is a testament to their shared commitment to serving and enhancing the Tallahassee community. This expansion is poised to create new environments for connection, worship, and community service, furthering City Church’s mission to connect, equip, and send people to impact their city and beyond.
