Leon County Government and the Knight Creative Communities Institute (KCCI) invite the community to the unveiling of the newly constructed elevated and artful crosswalks on Dempsey Mayo Road on Monday, November 13, at 10 a.m. at WT Moore Elementary, 1706 Dempsey Mayo Road. The elevated and imaginative crosswalks on Dempsey Mayo Road at Emerald Chase, Meandering Lane/Meandering Way, and at the W.T. Moore Elementary School Entrance are innovative measures taken by the County in partnership with the KCCI to enhance pedestrian crossing visibility and slow down vehicular traffic in this area. This project supports the County’s ongoing efforts to provide essential public safety infrastructure as well as promote livability, health, and sense of community by enhancing mobility. Funding for the artistic designs on the crosswalks was made possible due to an American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) grant. The three crosswalks are adjacent to the Westminster Oaks Retirement Community and W.T. Moore Elementary School. The artistic designs featured on the elevated crosswalks display a community sense of public art and draw the attention of oncoming traffic to the crosswalks to enhance visibility and prioritize pedestrian safety.
Why I joined the Chamber
“AMWAT Moving Warehousing & Storage value its relationship and membership with the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce greatly. We find the resources provided by the Chamber are extremely beneficial to us. As a small growing business, we value the many resources the Chamber provides for professional and business growth; government advocacy and ensuring its members are receiving value. We owe much of our growth and success to the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce; but like any membership, it is up to the member to access the many programs offered by the Chamber and get involved.”
