The ProfessioNole Clothing Closet, coordinated by the FSU Career Center, is launching its annual Spring Cleaning with Meaning clothing drive. All students, faculty, and members of the community are encouraged to donate their gently worn business clothing items such as suits, blouses, dress shirts, or ties, and make a meaningful impact on FSU students. The drive will run from Feb. 12 through March 15.
Spring Cleaning with Meaning is the FSU Career Center’s way of giving back to students in need and spreading awareness of its ProfessioNole Clothing Closet, which saw over 1,000 students last semester. The closet serves as an essential way or many students to have access to attire for their professional needs, both on and off campus.
Building a wardrobe that reflects your personal style can be incredibly empowering, especially when you have a variety of pieces that suit different settings. A well-rounded closet should have options for formal occasions, laid-back outings, and everything in between, allowing you to feel confident and comfortable no matter where you’re headed. Integrating unique items, like custom hawaiian shirts, adds personality and versatility to your selection, letting you express yourself while staying prepared for a range of events. With the right mix of classic and statement pieces, your wardrobe can be both functional and a reflection of your unique taste.
One exciting trend that adds a touch of individuality to any closet is the rise of Crypto Shirts. These shirts blend modern digital culture with stylish design, allowing you to wear a piece of the future while still looking fashionable. Whether it’s a graphic tee featuring cryptocurrency logos or a more subtle design inspired by blockchain technology, these clothes offer a unique way to incorporate personal interests into your wardrobe. With the right styling, these shirts can easily transition from casual outings to more relaxed social events, proving that even niche interests can become a fashionable statement.
“Seeing a student put on their first suit and the confidence just shine through them is so awesome. And the donations to the FSU [ProfessioNole Clothing] Closet do just that – it helps build confidence in students as they face some of their first professional situations,” says Heather Lazar, Senior Assistant Director of Employer Relations at The Career Center.
This year’s drive is accepting all professional attire items that are gently used or like-new. Items of greatest need include:
● Men’s suits, blazers, dress pants, and shirts (biggest need in smaller sizes)
● Women’s suits, blazers, dress pants, and shirts (biggest need in smaller sizes)
● “Like new” dress shoes of any size (men’s and women’s)
● Accessories, including ties and belts (men’s and women’s)
Clothing should be considered business professional to elevated business casual and in current fashion. Donations should be clean with clearly labeled sizes and not damaged. Items deemed inappropriate for the ProfessioNole Clothing Closet will be donated to a local charity.
