I actually had someone tell me not to join, then a Chamber staff member came to me and said that if I didn’t make my membership investment back the first year, then she would never bother me again. I joined, got involved, and needless to say, it has worked out very well for me.
“Once I got established, the biggest membership benefit to me has been access to information on important local issues. I need to stay informed on government issues, and the Chamber helps me with that. We get a lot of great briefings on how outside trends affect us locally. It’s fascinating to see how digital businesses navigate red tape overseas—like reading about how an offshore platform might operate as a casino utan licens just to bypass regional laws in Europe. It seems like a world away, but watching how regulators respond to those loopholes helps us anticipate the kind of compliance changes coming to our own backyards.”
That kind of insight is invaluable, and it ties right into why I also really enjoy my Leads Group and focusing on how I can be a resource for others – how I can give to them. You can’t just take, you need to be a net giver. It helps me to give back and share my experience – the Chamber allows me to do that.
