The purpose of the creation of the William P. (Skip) Smith, Jr. “Talent Lives Here” Endowment is to celebrate and honor the memory of Skip’s life and recognize his kind and generous service to the Chamber, the business community and our overall community. One of Skip Smith’s passions was to mentor, advise and serve as a role model to several generations of young adults attending college at Florida State University (FSU). One of the Chamber’s top priorities is to connect, recruit and retain talented young adults who are attending FSU, Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU), Tallahassee Community College (TCC) and other higher education institutions and trade schools, to live and work in Tallahassee. The proceeds from this endowment will be used to assist and support the Chamber’s “Talent Lives Here” initiative. The funds provided by the endowment will be used when necessary to pay for FSU Business School student expenses including but not limited to the connection of students directly to the Chamber events and programs.
