Kids Incorporated of the Big Bend is proud to be celebrating it’s 50th year providing early learning, health and family services for infants and toddlers in the Big Bend Community. Founded in 1972 by Lifetime Achievement award winner Budd Bell, a passionate advocate for children and women, the elderly, the mentally ill, and the disadvantaged, she pioneered coordinated childcare legislation in Florida, and helped pass the Child Care Bill, which secured the funding of early learning programs across the state. Budd recognized the need for affordable, high quality early learning programs for families with young children and what began in the basement of First Presbyterian Church serving 25 Florida State University and Florida Agriculture and Mechanical University students with preschool children has evolved into the only community-based organization providing quality, comprehensive services, and addressing the issues of at-risk families with children ages 0-3 and pregnant women in Jefferson, Leon & Madison counties, Florida. Our name and our services have evolved over the years, but one constant remains: to best serve a child, we must serve the family.
