Over the last four years, James Moore & Co. has seen quite a few changes – including the addition of eight new partners to its leadership team. Among them is Nadia Batey, who is is based in James Moore’s Tallahassee office.
Founded in 1964, James Moore is a regional accounting and business consulting firm with additional offices in Daytona Beach, DeLand and Gainesville. The firm specializes in providing auditing, tax, accounting, wealth management, human resources consulting, technology solutions and other services.
In addition to managing client teams, Nadia provides tax advisory and compliance services with a focus on serving the needs of small businesses, real estate firms and other companies. She has advanced knowledge of multi-state C-corporations, S-corporations and partnerships in matters relating to multi-state taxation. She also played a key role in creating our State and Local Tax (SALT) line of services that address state and local tax needs.
Prior to joining James Moore, Nadia and her husband were self-employed for several years—giving her a unique understanding of the struggles of business owners and enabling her to better solve the tax issues her clients face. In one instance she was able to help a client realize a $90,000 tax savings simply by doing a cost segregation study, while in another she saved a business roughly $40,000 by reorganizing them as a different type of entity.
In addition to her client service, Nadia makes invaluable contributions to her industry and community. She regularly makes presentations to community groups on current tax savings strategies and writes articles that discuss tax issues and other tools for success. She stays active in several industry groups, including the Institute for Professionals in Taxation. And she serves as the youth director for her local church and a venture crew leader for her Boy Scout troop.
Whether it’s through her client work or her service to the community, Nadia’s efforts are inspired by one driving force: people. “Tallahassee has some of the most inspiring and caring residents,” she said. “It’s great to be a part of a community that really cares!”
Nadia has been with James Moore for over 15 years. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Bachelor of Science in Food and Resource Economics from the University of Florida.
