Marquis Software names Larry Powell Chief Operating Officer

TALLAHASSEE, FLA – Marquis Software Development announced today that, Larry Powell, has been appointed Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Powell previously served as a Principal Software Consultant on the Technical Support team.

Effective immediately, Powell will assume responsibility for operational strategy, finance, budgeting, and human resources needs. Powell will be responsible for collaborating with the President and VP to set and drive organizational vision and ensuring operational excellence across the company.

Prior to his appointment, Powell was heavily involved in many aspects of company operations. He played an integral role in performing human resource tasks, reviewing contracts, responding to competitive procurements, and managing quality control, all while working to improve and automate existing business processes where appropriate. In that role, Powell was involved with the software development life-cycle to assess, design, and implement efficient processes. Powell also maintained the company’s intranet site used for strategic business communication, workflows, and document sharing.

Powell joined Marquis Software in 2002 from the management and IT consulting company Advanced Systems Design, where as a Software Engineer, he developed Visual Basic applications to track medical and reemployment services data for the Florida Department of Labor and Employment Security and enhanced an intranet web application for the Florida Department of Education Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.

Powell earned his bachelor’s degree at King University in Business Administration and completed his master’s degree in Sport Administration at Florida State University.
