TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) — Tallahassee business leaders gathered Tuesday morning for the annual “Chamber of Commerce” breakfast.
This gathering consists of the chamber hitting on pressing matters, including the fact that the unemployment rate is the lowest it’s been in 80 years, and jobs are up by nearly three percent. This includes the fact that talent retention at local universities is also up.
New Chair Heidi Otway has also officially taken over, and shares her focus for the new year.
“Talent is important,” said Otway. “Recruiting young people to come and live here, creating an equitable environment so that people who want a job and want to flourish can do that. That’s really our focus in the coming year.”
The chamber is continuing to build off the new strategic plan that was introduced last year. That plan is focusing on growing business, advocating for business owners and driving value to its members.
