HCA Florida Capital Hospital’s emergency department, a part of HCA Florida Healthcare, has been selected as a recipient of the Emergency Nurses Association’s 2023 Lantern Award for demonstrating exceptional and innovation in leadership, practice, education, advocacy and research performance. The Lantern Award showcases the emergency department’s accomplishments in incorporating evidence-based practice and innovation into emergency care. H
As part of the application, EDs are encouraged to share stories that highlight a commitment to care of patients, as well as the well-being of nursing staff. The award serves as a visible symbol of our commitment to quality, safety and a healthy work environment.
“The Lantern Award is a result of tremendous hard work and dedication by the emergency department caregivers to serve the medical needs of our community,” said Tara Beth Anderson, chief nursing officer at HCA Florida Capital Hospital. “Our emergency department leaders focused on, and were committed to, changes in throughput processes, turnover and culture. Our colleagues and providers were an integral part of the decisions, and the leading-edge, evidence-based strategies that were implemented. I’m so proud of the ED nursing staff for their ongoing ability to make great strides in the delivery of high-quality ER care to our patients.”
As a recipient, HCA Florida Capital Hospital will be recognized in upcoming ENA publications, on the ENA website and during Emergency Nursing 2023, the association’s annual conference in San Diego Sept. 21-23.
