Chamber Update: Human Rights Ordinance

At today’s Executive Committee Meeting it was the decision of the Executive Committee that a statement needed to be produced and distributed to the Board and full membership, as the County Commission is voting on this issue today. The Executive Committee has approved the following statement

The Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce is always dedicated to the positive principle of respect for the rights of all individuals. We support equality for all people, as guaranteed by our U.S. Constitution, the Florida Constitution, and existing federal, state and local laws. We oppose discrimination in any form – and are proud that our members and the entire business community have an exemplary track record of abiding by these key principles every day – and protecting the rights of all citizens.

The Chamber shall work with County officials to educate and inform our membership and the business community about the proposed Human Rights Ordinance, its requirements and potential impacts.

Thank you,
Matt Brown, Chairman
Sue Dick, President
