The new year may be upon us, but 2019 continues to bring good news for Tallahassee on the jobs front. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has recently released job numbers for the month of November and the data shows another significant increase in hiring. With a total count of 194,400 non-farm jobs, the Tallahassee MSA has reached a new all-time high for employment opportunities. The November job total represents an increase of 1,400 jobs over the previous month of October and a 2.6% increase over the past year.
The past decade has been an impressive one for job growth in the Tallahassee area. Between November 2010 and November 2019, Tallahassee’s job totals grew from 172,700 to 194,400 – an increase of 12.9%. Considering that the recession did not end in Tallahassee until late in 2012, that total is even more impressive.
With low unemployment and continued positive job growth, Tallahassee’s economy remains in a strong position as we enter a new year and decade.
