Unemployment Tax Relief Passes Both Chambers

On the opening day of the 2010 Legislative Session, the Florida Legislature unanimously passed HB 7033 which provides Florida employers with immediate relief from unprecedented unemployment compensation tax increases that they were facing this year. The bill was signed into law last night. This important issue was addressed by Chamber President Sue Dick during the Local Legislative Delegation briefing in January. Dick urged the delegation to develop a plan to alleviate and mitigate the unemployment tax burden on our employers that had the potential to cause more unemployment, reduce employee benefits or business closures. Let our local delegation know that you appreciate their support of this bill and business community.
