Oppenheim Roars with Lyons Acquisition

Long-time Tallahassee public relations firm RB Oppenheim Associates (RBOA) is bolstering its digital marketing division, Digital Opps, with the recent acquisition of Lyons Digital Media.

RBOA created Digital Opps in 2011 following its merger with Catalyst Consultant Group, LLC. Catalyst’s former CEO Michael Winn joined RBOA then and currently serves as executive vice president and chief digital officer.

Lyons Digital Media has been in business in Tallahassee for more than 25 years, providing website development, website hosting, digital graphics, content management and relationship management tools for business and nonprofit communications under the leadership of its owner, Jonathan Lyons. Under the terms of the acquisition, Lyons has joined RBOA’s Digital Opps team as digital services director.

The acquisition also dramatically expands Digital Opps’ client base by bringing on board nearly 60 of Lyons’ website hosting and management clients. Digital Opps now hosts and manages more than 180 websites.

Founded by Oppenheim in 1985, it became one of Florida’s first “integrated marketing communications” firms more than 25 years ago when it adopted the then-novel approach of “blending PR, advertising, marketing and promotion strategies and tactics into a single strategic toolbox to more precisely, consistently and synergistically meet our client’s needs,” Oppenheim said. Since then, many other firms have tagged themselves with the IMC moniker.
