TALLAHASSEE, FL – Attorney Timothy M. Cerio, of counsel in GrayRobinson’s Tallahassee law firm office, has been appointed by Florida Governor Rick Scott to the State University System Board of Governors. Cerio’s term runs from October 27, 2017 to January 6, 2024. Cerio succeeds Richard A. Beard III.
The Board of Governors oversees the operation and management of Florida’s 12 public universities. It is comprised of seventeen members, fourteen of whom are appointed by the Florida Governor and confirmed by the Florida Senate for a term of seven years. The remaining members include the Chair of the Advisory Council of Faculty Senates, the Commissioner of Education, and the Chair of the Florida Student Association.
“We are proud that Tim has been selected to serve on this important Board,” said GrayRobinson president and managing shareholder Mayanne Downs. “With his background and experience he is a perfect fit for the Board of Governors.”
In March 2017, Cerio was appointed to the Florida Constitution Revision Commission by Governor Scott. The Commission convenes once every 20 years for the purpose of reviewing Florida’s constitution and proposing amendments for voter consideration. Cerio also previously served as general counsel to Governor Scott and as general counsel and chief of staff to the Florida Department of Health.
