The Florida Association of the American Institute of Architects (AIA Florida) has presented Hoy + Stark with the Firm of the Year Award. Founded on the idea that there had to be a better way of practicing architecture, Patrick E. Hoy, AIA and James “Monty” Stark, III, AIA, started their company in 2006 with the fundamental belief that design is a service – a philosophy that can be found in everything the firm does.
“Theirs is not a cookie-cutter approach to building design,” said client Bobby Bacon of the Earl Bacon Agency, “almost as much time is spent listening to the needs and vision of their clients than to drawing and sketching and, always, with an eye toward the comfort and long-term welfare of the people who will occupy the spaces they create.”
The AIA Florida/Caribbean Honor and Design Awards Program is Florida’s most prestigious awards program for the region’s architectural profession. Awards were bestowed upon the winners at the 2017 AIA Florida/Caribbean Design and Honor Awards held at the AIA Florida Annual Convention at the Naples Grande Resort in Naples, Florida.
Hoy + Stark Architects has over 35 years of experience in retail, government, educational, residential, and commercial projects. Notable projects include Killearn Lakes Elementary addition, City Church, and Market Plaza on Timberlane Rd. The firm is currently designing the Capitol Grounds Memorial Park.
The Florida Association of the American Institute of Architects, head-quartered in Tallahassee, represents the interests of more than 3,600 members in Florida and the Caribbean. Members adhere to a code of ethics and professional conduct that assures the client of an AIA-member architect’s dedication to the highest standards in professional practice.
