Opening Summer of 2011, Four Points by Sheraton Tallahassee Downtown
is on Track to become the Brand’s First LEED Certified Hotel
Tallahassee, FL – March 8th, 2011 – A new Four Points by Sheraton in Tallahassee is expected to become the newest local hotspot led by Bo Schmitz, General Manager and Cheryl Hatcher, Director of Sales.
Union Hotel Company Tallahassee is due to begin construction and renovation of Tallahassee’s “Round Hotel” and former Holiday Inn in March of this year. The company estimates the property will reopen as the Four Points by Sheraton in the summer 2011 and will be Tallahassee’s first LEED Certified hotel through the U.S. Green Building Council.
Bo Schmitz brings nearly 20 years of previous hotel management experience to the property. Upon graduating from Michigan State University’s School of Hospitality Business, Bo managed and developed a number of brands that include the Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt Place (the company’s first LEED Certified property) and IHG branded properties. Bo’s highest accolade came during his many years of service in Michigan working for IHG earning The Torchbearer Award, the company’s highest honor for service excellence.

Schmitz served as Chairman of the Grand Rapids/Kent County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau Hotel Advisory Board and also taught several semesters as an Adjunct Professor in the Hospitality & Tourism Management department at Grand Valley State University. Most recently, Bo served as Regional Director of Operations overseeing eight hotels in the Atlanta, Georgia, New Orleans, Louisiana and Columbia, South Carolina markets.
Cheryl Hatcher joins the team from Lexington, Kentucky where she was the Chief Sales and Marketing Officer for the last six years with the Kentucky Department of Tourism. She has led the agency in its initiative to successfully market Kentucky as a travel destination, and most recently was project manager for “The Kentucky Experience” at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2010 attracting over 500,000 national and international guests to Kentucky.

Hatcher is a long-time veteran of the tourism and travel industry. She moved to Kentucky from Illinois in March of 2004 and joined the National Tour Association as Director of Sales and Sponsorship, in Lexington, Kentucky. Prior to her move to Kentucky, she was Vice-President of Sales with the Quad Cities Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. During her tenure at the Quad Cities, she received the designation of a “Certified Meeting Professional” (CMP) and was named Director of the Quad Cities Sports Commission. In addition, she was Director of Sales for the Isle of Capri Casino Hotel and Conference Center in Bettendorf, Iowa, and President Casino Hotel in Davenport, Iowa.
