The Foundation for Leon County Schools will be awarding public schools more than $100,000 this year for programs and resources that are not funded by tax dollars. Because the Foundation belongs to the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations, it receives a matching grant from the State. This year’s allotment is $50,000 and the Foundation will raise the match at this year’s annual Friends of the Foundation Harvest Moon Soiree on October 10th from 5:30-8:00 PM at the Goodwood Museum. “We plan to break a record this year,” says Dave Vincent, the Foundation’s chairman. “Thanks to generous corporate sponsorships, ticket sales, and a super silent auction, we know we’ll exceed our goal. We’re thankful for a community that understands the importance of keeping our school district in the top performing districts in the state,” Vincent states.
