Fluent in Floridian: The Podcast for Floridians Officially Launches

There’s a new podcast for Floridians who want to hear the personal stories and motivations of their state’s top leaders, innovators, and influencers. The Fluent in Floridian podcast officially launched last month with five episodes featuring interviews with Florida State University President John Thrasher, Audubon Florida Executive Director Eric Draper, Tampa Bay Times Political Editor Adam Smith and longtime Jeb Bush Senior Advisor Sally Bradshaw.

“Our show is made for Floridians who want to hear more from our state’s leaders than a few edited soundbites in the news,” said host Chris Cate. “We offer listeners a chance to hear Florida’s movers and shakers talk about what inspires them to lead and about where they see our state headed in easily accessible podcast episodes that can be listened to anytime, anywhere you have access to a smartphone or computer.”

Chris Cate, a former reporter who has also led communications at the highest levels of state government, is host of the Fluent in Floridian podcast. He is a former spokesperson and speechwriter in the Governor’s Office and has also served as communications director for Florida’s Secretary of State and Chief Financial Officer, making him uniquely qualified to lead conversations about a variety of Florida’s top issues. Currently, he is the Director of Public Affairs for SalterMitchellPR, the creative force behind the Fluent in Floridian podcast.

“Florida has so many great Florida leaders, but there are few opportunities to hear them outside of traditional media,” said co-executive producer and SalterMitchellPR Chairman Peter Mitchell. “This podcast gives Floridians a chance to hear their leaders go deeper into the issues and talk about what inspires them.”

Episodes of Fluent in Floridian will be released weekly and cover topics such as economic development, environmental protection, health care, transportation, tourism, politics, taxes, education, energy and more. However, over the next month, there will be two Fluent in Floridian episodes released per week as part of the show’s opening launch, which includes interviews with Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, Florida Chamber of Commerce Chair Syd Kitson and many others.

“We like to describe our show as like NPR’s Fresh Air with Great Floridians as the weekly guests,” said co-executive producer and SalterMitchellPR President April Salter. “There isn’t another podcast like this one featuring prominent Floridians sharing their vision for our state.”
