First Commerce Raises $10,000 for Capital Region YMCA

First Commerce Credit Union (FCCU) presented Ken Franklin, CEO of the Capital Region YMCA (the Y), with a check totaling $10,155.00 on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 in support of youth development and healthy living in the community.

Additionally, FCCU and Seminole IMG Sports Marketing spearheaded the opportunity for Florida State University fans to win a chance for behind-the-scenes access to the Seminole Football program for a day. “This promotion was all part of a plan to raise awareness and encourage the community to financially support the very important work of the YMCA,” said Cecilia Homison, CEO of First Commerce.

Partnering with Florida State University Seminoles football team, FCCU awarded an exclusive pass to Susie Bryant and Frank Dennard. The winners will experience a “day-in-the-life of an FSU football player” by granting them access to a private facility tour, lunch in the athletic cafeteria, attending a live practice, photo opportunities, pre-game access and game tickets to the FSU vs. UF football game on November 24, 2012.

The winners were selected randomly from over 500 entries that were collected throughout the football season at all First Commerce Credit Union financial centers and local YMCA facilities, plus online at

“At the Y a focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, nurtures the potential of every youth and teen, improves the community’s health and well-being, and provides opportunities to give back and support neighbors. We believe that lasting personal and social change can only come about when we work together to invest in our community. Partnering with First Commerce was a wonderful experience. They are dedicated and passionate about the work they do both in business and in the community, “said Ken Franklin, CEO of the YMCA. “Due to their willingness to invest in the community they serve, this generous donation will truly change the lives of the families and youth who need it the most.”

First Commerce collected donations by selling Champions for Charity t-shirts, encouraging members to make a donation, and hosting a variety of fundraisers such as a community yard sale, bake sales, ice cream socials, team member breakfasts, raffles and a chili contest.
