Many new changes are taking place at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center including a new General Manager, Ben Weiss. Global Spectrum, operators of the facility at Florida State University, named Weiss as the new General Manager back in August. Most recently Weiss served as the General Manager of the Memphis Redbirds at Auto Zone Park, a 14,000 seat stadium located in Memphis, TN. Ben brings to the Tucker Civic Center over 13 years’ experience with Global Spectrum.
The 33 year old Donald L. Tucker Civic Center is getting a major internal facelift that is set to be completed by the summer of 2015. The most notable changes that will be completed by December 1 of this year are the new all garnet seats (10,702) and Panasonic ‘Jumbo’ Center Hung Scoreboard, New Corner Boards, and LED Ribbon Boards that will circle the arena. “With the tremendous arena enhancements and facility improvements we are currently undertaking, these are very exciting times here at the Tucker Civic Center. I look forward to building on the recent successes of the facility and fully integrating myself into Florida State University and the Tallahassee community,” said Weiss.
Just coming off of a very busy month, the Tucker Civic Center has a packed season including the Tallahassee Broadway Series which opens on November 17 with Mannheim Steamroller Christmas, FSU Men’s and Women’s Basketball, and other exciting events and concerts set for the New Year. Look out in November for a new website- www.tuckerciviccenter.com.
