Chamber Addressing “West Tennessee Transit Pilot Project”

On behalf of the business community, the Chamber’s Growth Management and Governmental Affairs Committees are addressing an initiative known as “Moving Tallahassee – Cars Optional.” This initiative is a pending proposal to implement a pilot program involving the conversion of the outside lanes of Tennessee Street, between Monroe and Ocala, from vehicle travel lanes to restricted use of bus (mass transit) and bicycles.

The committees will host an informational meeting on Thursday, March 1, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at Momma Goldberg’s Restaurant, located at 666-2 Tennessee Street. Business owners are encouraged to provide owner input and to hear from City staff regarding the scope of the project. The Chamber will attend the Wednesday, March 14 City Commission meeting at which time this agenda item will be discussed.
