CEO Spotlight – Gloria Pugh, AMWAT Moving Warehousing Storage

gloria-pughGloria Pugh is the chief executive officer and president of AMWAT Moving Warehousing Storage headquartered in Tallahassee, Florida. AMWAT is an expert service provider in the relocation industry. AMWAT’s diversified lines of business include local, statewide, national and international moving services, concierge relocation services, packing/custom crating, third party supply chain (receiving and distribution) warehousing and logistics planning. AMWAT specializes in large and complex relocations providing logistics and concierge support for an easy and efficient transition. AMWAT’s objective is to ensure each client’s experience with the company is exceptional. An exceptional client experience starts with AMWAT’s employees. Hence, Gloria and her husband, Dean are dedicated to ensuring the company’s environment and climate is one where each employee is provided with the resources to thrive. It should be noted, AMWAT started out literally as “a man with a truck” providing local moving services.

Gloria Pugh’s responsibilities include but are not limited to developing the strategic direction of the company, articulating vision and strategy to management and employees; monitoring the short and long term financial viability of the company; developing and promoting company culture. Gloria’s main responsibility is maintaining the health of the company, overseeing corporate citizenship as well as developing and protecting the AMWAT brand.

Among numerous community projects, Gloria along with her husband, Dean and AMWAT employees work collectively to ensure the food bank, America’s Second Harvest of the Big Bend is well stocked. Through a variety of programs including Summer Fill a Truck, they have contributed over 30 tons in food and cash donations. Gloria serves on the advisory board for Move for Hunger and Junior League of Tallahassee. Recently, Gloria was appointed by Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Commissioner Adam Putnam to the Florida Consumer Council where she is serving her first term as chair of the council. Gloria also is currently working with the Chamber’s business growth, existing industries committee. Gloria, Dean and AMWAT support numerous local nonprofits year-round.  Gloria served on the Community Leadership Council on Gun Violence

Recent achievements: September 2016, Governor Scott recognized AMWAT Moving Warehousing Storage with the Governor’s Florida Business Ambassador Award; June 2016, Gloria Pugh was honored by Tallahassee Woman Who Mean Business as Entrepreneur of the Year; September 2014, Gloria Pugh was honored by Leadership Tallahassee as the Leadership PaceSetter. Moreover, AMWAT has been recognized annually on the local, statewide and national level since 2005 for its commitment to customer service and corporate citizenship.
