As a part of its Employee Wellbeing Program and #CapitalRegionalCares initiative, Capital Regional Medical Center has partnered with iGrow South City Community Garden. Capital Regional employees will be collecting donated garden items such as tools, equipment and/or resources including seeds, plants, hoses and gloves. Additionally, employees will be volunteering at the garden located on 510 E Orange Ave.
This partnership targets one of the five essential elements of wellbeing, “community.” Community wellbeing is the sense of engagement one feels to their local area. While the other four elements focus on career, social, financial and physical health, this initiative highlights how employees give back to the community and receive back the rewards of helping others.
“Volunteering has many benefits including stress relief, learning new skills, and building self-esteem,” said Mary Waller, Business Health & Wellness Manager. “Capital Regional Medical Center is committed to our employees and helping our community. This partnership will do both.”
Capital Regional’s parent company, Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) is also offering benefits to local charities through its program, “Caring for the Community.” This includes “Dollars for Doers,” which allows employees who log 10 volunteer hours in one calendar year to unlock a $200 “Cause Card” for the charity of their choice.
