Business Leader to become CEO of Local Technology Company

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The top leadership at one of Florida’s premier business technology companies will change when Blake Dowling becomes chief executive officer of Tallahassee-based Aegis Business Technologies on September 1 and the current CEO, Pam Butler, becomes chairman of the board.

Dowling has served as chief business development officer at Aegis for the past three years. He joined Aegis in 2006 as a consultant and rose through the ranks as account executive and director of sales before assuming his current leadership position in 2013. In his current role, he has overseen company rebranding, the rolling out of a new line of Aegis-specific branded products and the evolution of the company into a managed solutions provider. As CEO, Dowling will be responsible for all day-to-day operations at Aegis, as well as continuing to grow the business and open new revenue streams.

Dowling succeeds Butler, who co-founded Aegis in 1997 with Brad Mitchell, who will continue in his role as vice president. As chairman of the board, Butler will focus on strategic board initiatives for the company.

“This leadership change will allow time to implement an innovative board of directors’ structure for Aegis that will build on our years of experience and provide an opportunity for me to focus more attention on community involvement,” said Butler, who currently serves as president of the Tallahassee Community College Foundation board of directors. “I’m grateful that our company’s operations, our dedication to client service and the future of Aegis will be in Blake’s capable hands.”

“Pam leaves big shoes to step into, but I’m proud that we’ll continue to be the beneficiary of her vision and experience as our board chairman,” said Dowling. “She has built a remarkable company and team, and now, on the eve of our 20th anniversary, we are poised to take Aegis into an exciting third decade of providing cutting-edge technology, outstanding customer service and the most complete outsourced IT support solutions in North Florida.”
