TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Nominations for the Seventh Annual “Social Media Achieving Real Time Enriched Relations” – or S.M.A.R.T.E.R. – Award are now being accepted. Sponsored by Digital Opps, the digital marketing division of RB Oppenheim Associates, the S.M.A.R.T.E.R. Award recognizes local businesses, government entities, associations, nonprofits or other organizations demonstrating excellence in social media use.
The power and influence of social media is becoming increasingly recognized, but knowing how to execute social media practices effectively can be a challenge. Winners of the S.M.A.R.T.E.R. Award show outstanding use of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media platforms to engage and strengthen relationships with current and potential customers through meaningful dialogue. Past winners include Moore Communications Group, the City of Tallahassee, New Leaf Market, Hunter & Harp, the Tallahassee Democrat and, most recently, Madison Social.

“Using social media as part of a digital communications strategy allows certain brands to connect with their audiences on a more personal and unique level. We are excited to recognize a local business or organization that understands and takes advantage of online conversations to successfully engage with their audiences and build their brand,” said Michael Winn, chief digital officer of Digital Opps.

To be considered for the S.M.A.R.T.E.R. Award, go to and fill out and submit an application. All entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23. The winner will be announced at this year’s Tallahassee Technology (TalTech) Alliance TechExpo annual conference March 30 at the Florida State University Turnbull Conference Center.
