On November 2nd and 3rd, Making Awesome, Tallahassee’s Makerspace with be the local site for an international competition. America’s Datafest is an event focused on migration in the Americas. In addition to Tallahassee, the event is being hosted in nineteen other cities across North, Central and South America.
This is a two-day (and for the intrepid, an overnight) event bringing together programmers, engineers, social scientists, journalists, NGO’s, librarians, students and subject matter experts.
Participants will create applications, publications, media and other tools related to migration and migrants. Suggested topics include finance, employment, safety, human trafficking, health, public perception of migrants, etc.
At the end of the fest, participants will present their projects to the judges. Projects from the top two Tallahassee projects will move on to an international competition.
